Things I need to write

A post on why Lucius Vorenus is a tragic hero in the traditional sense.
A post on how Vorenus and Pullo (and to a lesser extent Anthony and Octavian) are criticisms of epicurianism and stoicism.

Defences of both Love and Monsters and Fear Her.

A short bit of meta on a trope, probably on the ultimate job security trope - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UltimateJobSecurity

Some thoughts at 23 and a half

Facebook is useful when trying to find out what's happened to your old school friends. Take E, for instance, I sat next to her in GCSE history. When we were 17, she ran away to her Dad's in Scotland avec her new boyfriend. She was threatening to get married and have kids. Everyone predicted that it would end in tears. Thankfully, 6 years later, it doesn't appear to have. She's still married and they have a lovely daughter, who thankfully takes after her mother. I have no idea why, but it makes me happy that she seems to be happy, doing what she wanted to do back then.

I am feeling particularly old right now though, because, due to some residential complications, I am in halls. Now across from me is a Masters student who I'm having to hope is a mature student because otherwise there are masters students who look full grown that are younger than me.

Part of the problem is that I look quite young for my age and that everyone I work with is older than me, so I assume people are older than they are and well, the freshers were born in a different decade than me, and we have some really odd conversations about the tellytubbies. They're confounded by me not having watched them.

So I have a trade offer of Lee Evans (Buf - WR), Earnest Graham (TB - RB) and Vince Young (Ten - QB) for Reggie Wayne
(Ind - WR), Thomas Jones (NYJ - RB) and Matt Schaub (Hou - QB). It sounds tempting, so there has to be a catch, any suggestions as to what that catch is?

When does the American football season start? Wondering because my fantasy teams seem to be filled with injured players and I'm wondering if they have time to get fit.

LGBTfest recommendations post

With the lgbtfest being over with for the time being, I thought I'd do a quick recommendation post. I've divided the fic into fandoms. There is no specific order to these except the first one, which is probably my favourite fic from the fest:

The Blood of Salmacis by [info]bwinter http://community.livejournal.com/lgbtfest/11007.html

It's about Hermaphroditos, the Ovid version, just after the curse and I can't explain exactly how much I love the language in this, and the last line. It's so good.

I have turned you down once already. Please stop trying to impress me, it won't work. I'd much rather kiss a wombat. Your absolute incompetance rules you out of my knickers for forever, as does your inability to get that I am not interested.

Once again, the Doctor-light episode rocks.

And I plan on waving this week's and last week's episodes in the faces of those people who say he can't write. He might be a terrible show runner but he writes like a dream.

Stolen from Jinxedraven.

1. It begins with a list of all 26 letters of the alphabet.
2. Comment with something for me to talk about that starts with one of those letters. Make me babble about anything -- TV shows, actors, actresses, food, idk, be creative. :D
3. One topic per letter per person. But if multiple people choose the same letter, I will answer for each.
4. I will reply in comments.

So I'm plotting out a fic, and I'm trying to decide where a character is going to be from. I know he's from the area of New York and I know where he's going to meet the other protagonist, and I know his background. But, despite having quite a strict search term, I still worry that google won't come up with anything. As a back-up plan, I think, well, I'll just stick him as being from Red Hook, a la Tazz. So I google, and a more suitable area comes up, and even better, it fits in perfectly with where he's meeting the other protagonist. As I read further into the article, which also gives me some hints in regard to his age, there's a section for famous residents. Guess who lives there now - one Tazz.

Cue giggling.

Unfortunately aforementioned piece of paper is severely lost.

Not lost is Italy's chances. I shall put forth the reasons I think Italy can beat the Spanish:

1) The Spanish always fall to pieces.
2) The Spanish have no defence.
3) While the Italians are minus Pirlo for the match, somehow, Danielle De Rossi has turned into a not half bad replacement for him. I have no idea how that happened.
4) Zambrotta is a ready made replacement for Gattuso.

If I were Donadoni, I'd move Zambrotta to full back, and move one of the full backs out to cover the right wing. Ambrosini where Gattuso plays, he's reasonably aggressive and if they get past him, they'll hit Zambrotta. Then play De Rossi where Pirlo goes and tell Perrotta he's going to have to do a little more ankle-biting.

Do Not Want

1) Franck Ribery injured.

2) the missingness of a particular piece of paper, it's not important, merely sentimental. Annoyedness has increased exponentially as the only reason it's missing is because I tidied up. Tidy does not work for me.

Obnoxiousness ahoy

Do not read if you are sensitive to bad language or gratuitous insults to the Germans.

For those who want to know the details of my insanity, I'm wearing my lucky Austrian scarf, my new shirt and I have beer to act as a sedative for the second half. I am going to need it.

Important details: They stole our anthem and we speak better German than they do.

You know what, I'd have taken 1-0 to Germany at the start of this tournament. And you know another thing, I'm proud to have that bunch of incompetants as my national team. Proud. When was the last time most people could say that.

Rocco Mediate, who will be playing off against Tiger Woods for the US Open tonight, for this quote - "And Mediate, who could become the oldest ever winner of the title, said he is enjoying every moment and relishing the prospect of taking on Woods.

"I get to play for the national Open against the best player on earth, that maybe ever played," he said.

"How much more could you ask for? To go up against the best player in the world and have a chance to beat him, there's nothing else you can ask for, period."
